Drug War Debate Far From Settled

The SoapBox attracted its largest crowd yet for the Tuesday, February 6th debate between Jerry Cameron, former police Chief turned critic of the nation’s “War on Drugs” and Sander Moody, attorney, professor and critic of drug legalization policies.

As was the case in last month’s debate over the Iraq War, the coveted Golden Grog Award required two votes by the audience to determine the winner.

Professor Sander Moody was able to squeak out the victory despite a very persuasive and well presented argument by Jerry Cameron.

Even people who came to the show with strong positions on either side of the drug legalization issue admitted that the opposition made some strong and compelling points.

The audience was filled with engaged and outspoken students from Florida Coastal School of Law and many took their opinions and questions to “the box”. In fact so many audience members wanted to speak – that time simply did not permit all of them to make it to the soapbox.
